TEXT — Psalm 3:1-8
Message
Hagia Sophia was built about 1,500 years ago in Constantinople (earlier known as Byzantium, now known as Istanbul), which was then the capital of the Roman Empire, and today thrives as the largest city in Turkey. It was built primarily between 532 and 537. The original church to occupy the site was commissioned in 325. It was razed in 404, rebuilt, and destroyed again in 532. It has been a church for 1,000 years, a Mosque for 500 years, and later converted to a Museum. The building has withstood earthquake and other natural disasters and is still standing today.
From our text, David recounted the experience during the rebellion led by Absalom, his son. Absalom’s clique overran the palace, and the king fled for safety. David eventually prevailed and reigned in Israel till his peaceful death. David had survived several plots against his life from Saul and the 3,000 chosen men, out of all Israel, who pursued him throughout the caves and rocks (1 Samuel 24:2). He survived the paw of the Lion and the Bear, and killed Goliath of Gath who terrorised Israel for weeks.
Sometimes, we find ourselves in such a logjam. The power and the potency of adversaries seem to go beyond what we can handle. We are at a loss for a way of escape. David’s confession in our passage (Psalm 3:6) should comfort us when it looks like the enemy has the upper hand.
David had the conviction that though he walks in the valley of the shadow of death, God is always there! What an assurance for us that even in our worst circumstances, God will be there with us. What He did for David, He will surely do the same for everyone who trusts Him.
Thought for the day
God is with us even in our worst circumstances.

- MARK 1-3 (Read By Alexander Scourby)
I have been with the fears of lack of adequate planning for for a living after retirement from government service, but the Lord has comforted me this morning through the daily manna that even in whatever seems to be my worst circumstances, He will be there to settle me. Praise the Lord.
