Key Verse
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul” (Mark 8:38).
Text — Mark 8: 34-38
Message
Every person has an undying soul. It is so precious that our Lord Jesus Christ declared that gaining the whole world and losing one’s soul is profitless. In the same vein, Arthur J. Hodge, in his hymn, Have you counted the cost? declared:
“Have you counted the cost, if your soul should be lost,
Tho’ you gain the whole world for your own?”
The loss of any man’s soul is the heaviest loss he can suffer. Friend, have you considered how many souls die unprepared to face eternal judgment of God globally every year? For the period of the 4 years of the First World War, about 17 million people died. Also during the 6 years of the Second World War, about 60 million people died. Plagues have also killed many millions over the years. These are just a few of the death statistics. Most of these people died unsaved. They are lost through a long eternity. Hence, the Lord asked the solemn question, “What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” We must preach and win souls.
Quote
We must preach and win souls.
Challenge
No worldly gain can compensate for the loss of the soul in hell.
