Key Verse
“I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down”
Text — proverbs 24:30-34
Message
The slothful is someone who dislikes work or anything that tasks one’s physical or mental energy. However, when a person finds something he is passionate about, be it education, sports, career, a good house or car, he will do everything legitimate to get it. Hence, James Allen said, “You will become as small as your controlling desire; as great as your dominant aspiration.”
No student has any reason to be slothful. If you are among those who dislike work, it is because you have not got a dominant aspiration that you want to pursue till you achieve it. When Ben Carson made up his mind that he was going to be a medical doctor, though his whole class knew him to be a “dummy,” things began to change. He and his brother, Curtis, stopped excessive playing and television watching, and started reading two books a week, in addition to the school subjects, and eventually became top of their classes. By prayer and hard work, Ben became the greatest neurosurgeon worldwide. My friend, trust God, work hard and become “above only.”
