Key Verse
“And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?” 2 Samuel 10:3
Text — 2 Samuel 10:1-5
Message
According to Oxford Dictionary, suspicion is a feeling or thought that someone is guilty of an illegal, dishonest, or unpleasant action. Suspicion has no concrete evidence because it is just a feeling and thus the feeling or thought must be subjected to tests to know the truth.
From our text, we could see the danger of suspicion, King David was sincere in his mission of showing kindness to Hanun the son of the king of Ammon to repay him for the kindness of his father. The princes of the Ammonites suspected foul play and thus disgraced the team that David sent to Hanun. This led to war between Israel and the Ammonites.
Some children are fond of suspicion as they suspect people’s actions either at home, in school, or even in the church! Suspicion can lead to the loss of relationships, blessings, peace, prosperity, and lots more. To be free from all forms of suspicion, you need to bring your heart to Jesus for cleansing.
When your heart is cleansed, then the Spirit of God can lead and guide you into all truth.
