“Run away from Strife”
Thursday, April 11, 2024Key Verse
“Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.” Romans 13:13
Text — Romans 13:10-14
Message
Tony got a toy car from his uncle for doing well in his last promotion examination and he liked it very much. He did not allow his baby brother to play with it as much as the little boy cried for it. When their father saw what was happening, he decided to buy a toy train (with track-rail line) for his younger son. This train could move on the track when set up because it was battery operated. When Tony saw this, he became envious and would always fight his younger brother for it and almost destroyed it. Their father reminded him of how he had not allowed his younger brother to play with his own toy. Eventually, he understood what his father had been saying about avoiding strife, finding satisfaction in what you have and being willing to share what you have with others. He became sorry for his bad ways.
Strife means to fight, struggle or contend with someone or some people for something. Many people see life as a place where you must fight to get whatever you want even if the thing already belongs to others. God has made provision for all the needs of man and He has abundance of things for them all. People get into strife when they want to possess everything for themselves alone, avoid such attitude.
