Key Verse
“And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God” (Ruth 1:16).
Text — Ruth 1: 10-18
Message
Mary Forbes was married to Thomas Winslow at the age of 17. Her infant daughter died unexpectedly. Before the child was buried, Mary got another devastating information of her husband’s death. Rather than “curse God and die,” she believed that those tragedies were grooming her for a life of fruitful service. Her writings became medicine for many souls.
The Lord used her inspired writings to minister to the needs of the discouraged and despairing. Some of her quotes include, ‘Trials are treasures and blessings in disguise,” “Pray in the trial, pray over the trial, and pray after the trial that you may not lose the good it is designed to impart.” Oblivious of what God had packaged for her, Ruth wholeheartedly followed Naomi, her mother-in-law. She reaped the fruits of her loyalty. She became the grandmother of David and ancestor of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Whatever comes your way, always remember that, “…all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Remain loyal to Jesus.
