Key Verse

“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world” (Matthew 24: 3).

Text — Matthew 24: 3-14

Message

When students ask questions after a lesson has been taught, it is a mark of seriousness which in turn paves way for proper understanding of the subject matter. From our text, the disciples asked our Lord pertinent questions about the end of the world. “Not all of us, of course, will suffer same fate Jesus lays out for the apostles. Many Christians have and will, to be sure. The suffering of the last days can take different forms as well. Famine, disease, natural disaster, terrorism, war, political upheaval, abuse of all kinds, premature death, fatal accidents… The death and resurrection of our Lord has indeed removed the power of all these things. But they remain for now, even so,” said a Christian writer.

Events around the globe point to the reality of end times and imminent return of our Lord, Jesus Christ. This situation calls for Christian youths to live with eternity in view, knowing that life is so brief. Meditate on the above questions prayerfully and pattern your lifestyle in conformity with the Word of God. Be wise.
