Key Verse
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits”(Psalm 103:2).
Text — Psalm 103:1-5
Message
There is a danger common to mankind; and God repeatedly warns His people against. It is the danger of forgetting Him as His people enjoy His manifold provisions. This situation sounds like a contradiction, but it is the reality of many people today. Many people fall into this danger, bragging about the latest accomplishments, instead of giving God the glory. Youths particularly tend to show off; “blow your own trumpet,” they say. King Nebuchadnezzar ascribed his success to his own wisdom and prowess, forgetting to return the glory unto God. He was severely judged by God.
The most important purpose of God’s goodness is to lead us to repentance. Grace (unmerited favour) should elicit gratitude and make us humble. God’s goodness is a cord of love beckoning on sinners to come to Him. Those who enjoy divine provision while yet unsaved should reckon what greater blessings can be theirs if they are saved. They should then repent and be saved. Born again youths should count their God-given blessings, and return loving service and obedience to the Father. God blesses us as a sign of His undying love for His holy children.
