Memory Verse
“And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint and yet pursuing them” (Judges 8:4).
Text: Judges 8:1-5.
Vince Lombardi Jr powerfully asserted that, “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of perseverance.”
Perseverance is sticking with things. It means being hardworking and finishing what is started, despite difficulties. That was how Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb after a lot of trials and errors. There is a Nigerian Christian girl whose passion was to study medicine. She worked hard and passed all the qualifying exams for the admission, but was offered a different course that did not suit her passion. She rejected it and lost an academic session as she worked harder and was given medicine in her second attempt. Today, she is a practicing medical doctor. That is perseverance.
In our Bible text, Gideon and his soldiers exemplified this virtue; despite tiredness, they persevered to the point of victory. As a youth you must persevere in your studies, career and Christian life for all round success. However, if you are not a child of God, you can give your life to Christ today for the abundant life.
