Phillip Made His Mark – Part 2.

Key Verse

“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest” (Acts 8:30)

Text — Acts 8:26-40

Message

In the words of Elisabeth Elliot, “God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.” Philip understood this very well, which was why he made obedience one of his major character traits as Christ’s disciple. Because of his obedience, he was part of the seven men chosen by God to distribute food in the Church in Jerusalem.

Philip’s obedience also made God use him to convert the Ethiopian eunuch to Christianity, as we can see in our text. One remarkable thing about the encounter of Philip with the Ethiopian Eunuch is that after Philip had baptized him in water, the Holy Spirit caught him away to Azotus, and the Eunuch saw him no more but went home rejoicing. Indeed, this evangelist made his mark as he always obeyed God. As you live holy and obey the Lord, you can also make your mark in the gospel work.
