No Toying with God’s Temple
Tuesday, January 10, 2023Memory Verse
“If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” (1 Corinthians 3:17).
Text: 1 Corinthians 3:16-20
16.Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17.If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18.Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20.And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Message
In the Old Testament, when King Solomon completed the temple in Jerusalem, the glory of God filled the whole place at its dedication. Just as King Solomon painstakingly ensured the provision of the best materials for God’s temple, so are we wonderfully made by God for His dwelling. We must preserve and present our bodies as holy temples for His use.
As God’s temples, we are peculiar people because He resides in us. God is holiness personified. Knowing this makes us to keep away from sin as it does not glorify Him. As youths, nothing pleases God more than seeing us live a life of holiness as this qualifies us for heaven. The way you talk, the things you eat or drink, what you put on, and what you do with your body show whether you honour God or you are toying with His temple. The question today is: Are you defiling the temple of God or are you keeping it holy for His glory? Let people see Jesus in you.
