Key Verse
‘’Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full’’ (2 Kings 4:3, 4).
Text — 2 Kings 4:1-7
Message
Crude petroleum oil is formed in nature from plant and animal substances by a geological process underneath the earth. However, a miracle is a supernatural intervention of God in the course of nature. It is a process that no science can understand but can confirm the results. Miracles during gospel outreaches like crusades could be verified by medical experts.
The widow in our text had a pathetic situation as she had no money to pay her late husband’s debt. The option given to her by the creditor was to take her two sons into slavery till they had served the debt. She remembered God had a man called Elisha in her city and cried to him.
The solution was in a little pot of oil in her house. She demonstrated her faith to obey the instruction – “gather not a few.’’ The measure of her vessels determined her volume of the miracle oil which was sold, the debt paid, and enough left for family upkeep. Your obedience and faith will produce miracles through what you have – knowledge, talent, and skills.
