“Loos Him and Let Him Go”
Wednesday, July 10, 2024Key Verse
“And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, loose him, and let him go” (John 11:44).
Text — John 11:34-44
Message
It was Moliere who stated that, “The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.” In our text, the situation of Lazarus was indeed hopeless. He was dead for four days and stinking. This was the warning from Martha, Lazarus’ sister, seeming to make the problem tougher for Christ to handle. To her, the situation was beyond redemption. But Jesus was not focusing on the obstacle, for He had visualized the positive end result. In fact, he told her earlier, “Thy brother shall rise again.” Jesus had the bystanders remove the grave stone and went ahead commanding the dead Lazarus to come out of the grave. He did, even in his grave clothes, with which he was bound, hand and foot.
Bound! This is the picture of many today who have been incapacitated and demobilized by the problems of life, ranging from bereavement, failure, long time sickness, poverty, persecution, to sinful lifestyle. Nevertheless, there is assurance of freedom, victory and eternal life from Jesus. He has the power to set you free from every bondage, just as He set Lazarus free.
