“Lesson From The Fig Tree”
Monday, July 8, 2024Key Verse
“And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away” (Matthew 21:19).
Text — Matthew 21:19-21
Message
Fig trees are common and symbolic to Israel. When fig trees are full of leaves, it is expected that they bear fruits about that season. Jesus approached a leafy fig tree expecting to find some fruits on it, but found none. Hence, He cursed it.There are many youths today who attend Bible-believing churches, dress like heaven-bound Christian youths or even engage in one service or another in God’s house but do not bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance in their lives. These are leafy youths without fruit. Sometimes it is the Church that is not growing in number. Dr. Waymon Rogers said, “There is something wrong when the little Church stays little. Encourage your people to fast and pray.”
When Jesus Christ returns, all who do not manifest His nature and character will be eternally cursed into everlasting damnation. While those who do, will enjoy the privilege of being with Him eternally. Friend, are you like that leafy fig tree without fruit? Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to help you to bear fruits.
