Key Verse
“And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou” (Daniel 4:35).
Text — Daniel 4:34-37
Message
David Strauss, an atheist, made this regretful statement, “My philosophy leaves me utterly forlorn! I feel like someone caught in the merciless jaws of an automatic machine, not knowing at what time, one of its great hammers may crush me!” The word “foolish” means acting without thoughtfulness while “query” means questioning someone. The above text is an account of Nebuchadnezzar’s soberness after being humiliated by God for his arrogance and God-insulting acts.
Many boys and girls today are very audacious in their acts which tend to query God’s authority and sovereignty. How do you explain youths producing or enjoying ungodly music with immoral lyrics? How about those who live recklessly killing, robbing, raping and producing videos and books that suggest that there is no God? Indeed, they try to fault the laws of God. Friend, God made you.
You cannot fight with your maker and win. Pharaoh tried it and lost. If you have gone astray in ungodliness, Nebuchadnezzar’s experience is a testimony to the fact that you are not beyond redemption. You can turn to God through Christ Jesus in true repentance now.
Quote
They try to fault the laws of God.
Challenge
Keep the Word of God.
Prayer for today
Lord Jesus, keep me from rebellion in these last days.
I really needed this word. It reminds me of how Job queried God for his suffering and his friend Zophar corrected him. He said that God was even giving him less than his punishment of his youthful sins. It made me realize that in every hard time I face, God knows why he did it and as written in 2 Corinthians 12:9, my strength is made perfect in weakness. Glory be to Jesus, Halleluyah.
