Message
Ariel Durant writes in her book, The Story of Civilization, “A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within.” This was true of the Roman Empire as it is of our world in these last days. Ancient Rome became populous, prosperous, and promiscuous all at once. At the height of her glory, Rome fell under the weight of her moral corruption. Sin is a crushing weight on the sinner’s conscience.
Jesus Christ prophesied that abundance of iniquities shall be one of the signs of the end of the world. As the world nears its end, sin multiplies in its variety and becomes more visible everywhere. Most importantly, sin has become more appealing and more powerful in its pull in these last days. Many careless believers shall succumb to temptation and backslide; thankfully, not all will do so. You can resolve to be holy like Daniel in your heart; flee from the tempter like Joseph or remain steadfast in your conviction like Ruth. Stand with Christ, and refuse to be cowed by the crowd.
