Key Verse
“I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.” Psalm 118:5
Text — Psalm 118:5-9
Message
The never-ending mercy of God was shown when the Lord answered the Psalmist’s cry of distress. Time of distress is a time of trouble, trauma and difficulties. All these should have made the man to become confused and helpless, rather he picked up courage and prayed. What was the result? God answered, delivered him and also set him in a large place. Thus, he now had great success, abundant supply, deliverance and safety.
From the Psalmist’s action, we learnt that (i) we must cultivate the attitude of calling upon God. Calling upon God means constant prayers, not only when we are in distress, but at all times. (ii) God answers prayers – the Bible has given us assurance that when we pray, God will surely answer. Thus, we must pray in faith knowing that we shall receive the answer. (iii) God’s answer to our prayers is always the best solution to all our problems.
Maybe you are in a “small place” now – failure, lack of wisdom, poverty in the family and whatever that is not God’s will for you, God is ready to take you up and set you in a large place. All you need do is to trust His word, set time apart to pray fervently and wait for the result. You will soon share testimony of answered prayer like the Psalmist did.
