Text — Psalm 133:1-3
Message
The family, consisting of our parents and siblings, is one of the greatest gifts we have from God. The family is our source of strength. It teaches us what relationships mean. They help us create meaningful relationships in the outside world. The love we inherit from our families can be passed on to our independent relationships. The family teaches us better communication. When we stay connected with our families, we learn to connect better with the world. Therefore, peace and unity in the family are essential for our emotional and mental well-being.
Conflicts and confrontations may arise in the family and disrupt the unity in the home. Many factors that may precipitate such conflicts include: differences of opinion, poor communication, and change in the fortunes of the family and sibling rivalry. Christian youths should find ways to forge family unity. They should identify with the vision or values of the family. They should love and accept family members unconditionally. There is need for mutual respect and better communication skills. The family is a great asset. Give it all you have got. Happy International Day of Families!
