Message
A dictionary defines ‘friend’ as, “A person, typically someone other than a family member, spouse or lover, whose company one enjoys and towards whom one feels affection.” Best friends are wonderful. A good friend could be someone you might have just met, yet it seems as though you have known him or her for ages. However, you need to watch for character compatibility in any friendship. George Washington admonishes thus: “Be courteous to all, but intimate with a few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.”
Sift the friends you make and be a good friend yourself. Lend a helping hand to a friend who is in need. Always be a source of happiness to your friends and those who come across you. “In prosperity, our friends know us – in adversity, we know our friends,” said a writer. Jesus is the best friend. Be faithful to Him.
