Key Verse
“And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.” Acts 20:9
Text — Acts 20:5-12
Message
Eutychus was a young man who during one of Paul’s preaching slept off so soundly that he fell from the third loft and died. He would have been dead and forgotten but the prayer of Paul and God’s mercy brought him back to life. Many young boys and girls like sleeping during devotions, quiet time and church services. They don’t usually sleep when gisting with friends, watching a TV programme, cartoon, playing football or telling stories but they always sleep when it’s time for prayers, Bible reading or preaching.
This act of sleeping at such important times could cause spiritual coldness, insensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit, lack of wisdom and may even give room for the enemy to steal the spiritual virtues you have. The devil is always moving about like a roaring lion looking for whom to devour. Be spiritually sensitive and alert. Do not sleep when you are supposed to be praying or listening to the teaching of God’s word.
