Key Verse
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
Text — Proverbs 4:20-27
Message
“Should I go or should I not?” Dinah might have thought in her mind before she eventually decided to go on that careless sightseeing in a strange land (Shechem). The evil that befell Dinah in Genesis 34 and other bad consequences all started by the careless action of Dinah, which began as a thought. Dinah was defiled (made dirty and unclean), innocent people in Shechem were killed, Simeon and Levi became murderers and ended with a curse long after the evil had been committed.
Be careful of the thought you allow in your heart. Temptation to do evil usually starts as a thought. Reject and do not allow dirty thoughts in your heart. Do not act on any suggestion to do what you know is against the word of God. Sinners should not be your best friend, if you are a child of God. Watch the type of books you read, cartoon and program you watch on television.
If Dinah knew that careless thought, which she acted on by engaging on that careless visit that fateful day would lead to death of many people, pain and sorrow, she would possibly not have gone ahead with it. Dirty thoughts if allowed are dangerous. The word of God instructs that we should keep our heart and mind with all diligence. Ask God to make your heart holy (sanctification), watch and don’t allow dirty thoughts in your heart.
