“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 1:3).Text — Jude 1:3-5
One of the contemporary defenders of the Christian faith is Martin Luther. When he was on trial that would have led to his execution, hear what he declared, “Unless I am convicted by Scripture and plain reason, I do not accept the authority of popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other, my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against my conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I cannot do otherwise. God help me. Amen.”
The present conditions are not different from Martin Luther’s era. The Bible’s doctrines are perverted and distorted. The battle for truth against latter-day errors is raging. Every Christian is a soldier of Christ. Stand and defend the truth of the Bible by preaching and practicing it.
Beloved, many believers, young and old, have defended the faith in the past. In the face of errors pervading the world, believers should arise and do something. Evil thrives where good people do nothing. Where there is an error, we confront it by preaching the whole truth.
Every Christian is a soldier of Christ
As Christ’s representative, dispel error with the truth.
Prayer for today
Oh God, give me boldness to defend the faith before all.
