Message
Peer pressure is the influence to participate in the same sinful practice as other people of the same age and social group. It is also a state of trying to imitate what other children are doing that is contrary to the will of God. Tracy was a very obedient girl. She would always help her mother in doing house chores. She was also brilliant and was always taking first position in her class. She spent time to read and do all her assignments at the right time. Oh, how her teacher loved her. When Tracy was in basic four, a new girl joined her class. This new girl was very stubborn and disobedient.
She got close to Tracy and became her best friend. Tracy’s teachers warned her of the danger of being in close association with this girl, but she would not heed the warning. Gradually, Tracy started copying the bad character of her new friend. They would go out of the school together to attend parties. Tracy’s grades started to go down until she failed woefully in the promotion examination. It was then she realized that she had yielded to the bad influence of her friend and her gang. Through her mother’s effort, Tracy repented and became a new creature. She cut off her friendship with the bad girl and her gangs.
God frowns at children who engage in all forms of sinful practices as a result of influence from bad friends they mingle with in schools and in the community. If you have yielded to their pressure to do bad things, repent today and surrender your life to Jesus.
