Key Verse
“And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.” Genesis 21:3
Text — Genesis 21:1-8
Message
Isaac, the son of Abraham and Sarah, was born to them in their old age. God told Abraham that Sarah would have a son, with whom He would establish an everlasting covenant and with his children after him. Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to a son, whom Abraham named Isaac and circumcised when the baby was eight days old.
When Isaac was a lad, God decided to test Abraham by telling him to take the boy to the land of Moriah and sacrifice him there upon one of the mountain. Abraham did not question God’s order. When they got to the place that God had told him, Abraham built an altar, and prepared Isaac for the sacrifice. The boy did not struggle nor did he argue with his father. One important attribute in the life of Isaac that serves as example to us as children was his unquestioned obedience to the godly training he received from his father. He developed strong faith in the God of Abraham.
In Isaac we learn –
Integrity
Submission
Abiding faith in God
Availability for God’s use
Complete obedience to parental teaching.
You must develop your faith in God through obedience to His word and the godly teachings and influence of your parents. This is the sure way to inherit and enjoy great blessings as Isaac did.
