“Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (James 5:8).
Text — James 5:7-11
Message
In 1870, Philip P. Bliss wrote the song, ‘Hold the fort’ after hearing Daniel Whittle relate the famous incident of the American civil war of 1864. Union troops were trapped in a fort at Allatoona Pass, near Atlanta, when General Sherman sent a message which was signalled by flags from mountain to mountain: “General Sherman says hold fast. We are coming. “Despite heavy attacks, the men held the fort until Sherman’s army rescued them. Likewise, Jesus Christ, our General is coming, He’s asking us to be patient, endure and hold fast.
The world has been chaotic for a long time now, things keep getting worse by the day. These happenings everywhere create confusion in some believers causing them to think that the Great Tribulation might take place before the Rapture. Believers! Hold on to the promises of Christ. Do not lose hope. Let’s sing:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming! Jesus signals still.
Wave the answer back to Heaven -By Thy grace we will.”
