Message
The children of Israel had been in slavery in Egypt for about four hundred years (400). When they cried to God He heard and sent Moses to deliver them from suffering. With God’s authority, Moses confronted Pharaoh through many signs and miracles. During this time Pharaoh agreed to let Israel go free. After a while, he hardened his heart and refused to let them go. The time came for the tenth and final plague. To protect the Israelites, God instructed them through Moses their leader, to kill a lamb whose blood was to be used as sign of protection on their houses. Obedience to this instruction would bring protection to each Israelite’s family because the angel of death would pass over their homes. This was the beginning of the Passover ceremony.
The word passover describes how the Lord passed over the house where the blood of the lamb had been sprinkled on the door frames. Everyone inside the house where the blood had been sprinkled would be free from the curse of death. From that night, God’s people remembered the passover by having a Passover feast every year to honour the Lord.
Today, Jesus is our Passover Lamb Who shed his blood to save us and deliver us from eternal death. Surrender your life to Him and you will be preserved.
