Text — 1 Kings 18:22-26, 28-39
Message
The biblical account of Elijah’s demonstration of calling down fire from heaven is phenomenal. Apparently, he had known prior to that time that the fire would fall. He told them, “… call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD…” Elijah challenged the false worshippers to prove to them that their God, Baal was fake and could not save them. By so doing, Elijah showed his unflinching faith in Jehovah.
Christian youths today can take a cue from this. We are Christ’s ambassadors wherever we find ourselves, and as His, we are to strongly defend His glory like Elijah, knowing full well that He is ever with us. The fire signalled God’s unchallengeable power as it licked up the water that was in the trench, which is humanly impossible. This display of God should boost our confidence in Him in all circumstances of life. When you pray according to His will, you should be rest assured that He will answer you, especially when you are born again and living righteously.
