Text —Numbers 1:1-16
Message
Thirteen months after Israel left the land of Egypt, God instructed Moses to do a headcount of men who could go to war to fight and possess the land he had promised their ancestors. Numbering and selecting capable individuals who could fight Israel’s battles was not to be a one-person show. Moses, as instructed by the Lord, worked with Aaron and renowned chosen princes from each of the twelve tribes, thus demonstrating fairness and impartiality in the choice. Fighting their enemies required planning and recruiting capable men to battle under God’s guidance, which was strategic. Involving others in the numbering underscores the importance of delegation and sharing responsibilities for effectiveness.
Christian youths are soldiers of the Lord recruited by Christ, our Captain, to fight the battles of the Lord and rescue the perishing. The business of soul-winning cannot be done by Christian leaders alone. They should serve as models, and we all should willingly make ourselves available for God’s service under their supervision. Our commission is all-time and for members of the body of Christ. No excuse and no exemptions. Arise and work!
