Key Verse
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
Text — Hebrews 11:1-8
Message
When Joel and his parents moved to their new house, the area was very quiet and not so populated. Not long after, the community chose a spot not too far from their house as their dumpsite. After sometime, many people packed into the area and the dumpsite began to grow with mounds of dirt oozing out unpleasant odours, which made the environment very uncomfortable and unhealthy.
Joel was really worried about the situation that he decided to pray about it. He prayed and told God “This mountain must move”. To his amazement, a few weeks later, the government came with a truck to clear the refuse as the spot had been earmarked to build a health care centre for the community. He was really very happy and testified to the fact that God honours the faith of His children.
Faith is not an abstract subject. It is a fruit-bearing lifestyle as can be seen in the examples in our Bible passage. From their lives, welearn about the following attributes:
Abel – Righteousness, Enoch – Faithfulness to God, Noah – Salvation and Righteousness, Abraham – Obedience. As a friend of Jesus, you are called to live by faith and bear the fruit of the spirit through your lifestyle.
