Key Verse
“But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.” Acts 9:39
Text — Acts 9:36-40
Message
The story of Tabitha which means Dorcas, is a great lesson about many of God’s wonderful works in the life of His children. Dorcas was sick and died but was later brought back to life after prayers was said for her by Apostle Peter. When she died, why did people just not make arrangements for her burial? They decided to send for Peter because she made good impact when she was alive. She was dead but widows stood around her weeping and showing Peter the coats that she made for them.
As God worked through Peter to heal and to raise the dead, He also worked through Dorcas with her deeds of kindness and love. Acts of love that help those in need are as much a demonstration of Jesus’ compassion and the Holy Spirit’s presence as are miracles, signs and wonders. The purpose of miracles is to make the people believe and accept the gospel. In the same way, our acts of love, and kindness just like that of Tabitha, can bring sinners to Christ. You may not have the power now to do great miracles like the Apostles, but you have all the grace to show little acts of love and mercy to those around you. Be a Tabitha.
