Message
In 1849, there began a massive rush of fortune-seekers into California, USA after gold was found there. Within three years, more than 300,000 prospective gold miners had travelled over land and sea in what became known as the California Gold Rush. They risked death and disease; living conditions were very primitive but they would not be deterred. They were pulled along by the irresistible call of fortune and fame.
Our memory verse today records the response of Christ’s disciples to His command. He had said, “Go ye…and preach”, and they went everywhere in obedience. They were beaten, imprisoned, and even martyred still they went, propelled by the Master’s command. A single soul is worth far more than all the gold in the world, therefore our motivation for soul winning is stronger by far than all earthly pursuits or gain. The task of seeking the lost and winning them for Christ is assigned to every believer, do not misconstrue it but rise and do it.
