Message
Sanctity is not a luxury for the few, but a simple duty for you and me,” submitted Mother Teresa. It refers to holiness, purity and reverence for God. In the Old Testament, Uzzah touched the Ark of Covenant out of an ungodly zeal and God struck him dead for failing to respect His precept on the sanctity of the Ark of Covenant. This story reminds us of the holiness of God’s presence. Just as the Ark of Covenant was holy, the Church and our lives must be holy to reflect reverence for God’s sanctuary.
In the New Testament, the sanctuary refers to the church, the house of God which is the pillar and ground of Truth. The Church is sacred, a place where believers come together to worship, learn, reflect on God’s holiness and uphold sanctity through our conduct, teaching, and relationship. Living by the truth of the gospel honours God and strengthens the body of Christ. The Church is not just a building, but a community called to live in reverence to God’s holiness. Let us honour God’s sanctuary.
