Key Verse
“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).
Text —Ephesians 4:1-6
Message
Apostle Paul urged believers to work and live in unity. This is expected in the church of the Living God in spite of our cultural and individual differences. God knows that unity will make His Church effective, dynamic and strong; therefore was intentional in His command to the Church to be united. The Psalmist rightly submitted: “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalms 133:1). There is no option, or alternative to it. Christian unity constitutes harmony, holiness, humility, harmlessness and patience toward fellow brethren which affect the whole body of Christ positively.
Sin and selfishness destroy unity in the church. False brethren and backsliders are often causes of disunity or disharmony in the Assembly of God’s people. They cause disaffection and strife among the brethren and should be marked and avoided in order to maintain peace in the body of Christ. We have one body, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. He looks for unity in our diversity. Believers should be united as Christ prays for their unity.
