Live By Faith, Not By Law
Tuesday, December 9, 2025Key Verse
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
Text — Galatians 2:16-21.
Message
Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister, exemplified unwavering faith in his pursuit of civil rights. Inspired by his Christian beliefs, he peacefully challenged racial injustice, believing in God’s promise of equality and justice for all. Despite facing adversity, his faith fuelled his courage, guiding him to lead a movement that transformed the society. In our text, Apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of living by faith in Christ rather than striving to uphold the law as a means of salvation. Our salvation is not based on self-righteousness but on our faith in Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the law on our behalf.
Like Luther, Christian youth today should embrace the freedom found in Christ by faith in His finished work on the cross. As we put our faith in Christ, we experience true freedom and joy in our relationship with God, knowing that we are justified by faith and not by our efforts. However, justification by faith is not a licence to continue in sin because our justification is hinged on our continued life of holiness and righteousness.
