Leave Lodebar
Wednesday, February 25, 2026Key Verse
“Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.” 2 Samuel 9:5
Text — 2 Samuel 9: 1-7
Message
Lodebar was considered a ghetto town in Biblical times. In the Hebrew language it means ‘no pasture’, and by extension it means without order, no leader, no shepherd, not governed. Looking at the characteristics of Lodebar, Mephibosheth the grandson of the first king of Israel should not be living there. But because of the loss of his father and his grandfather on the same day which also led to the loss of all his inheritance, he was left with nothing but lack and limitations.
Sometimes situations of life turns our Goshen to Lodebar. But as friends of Jesus, we have hope. Who would have thought that Job, Joseph, Ruth, Naomi or even Mephibosheth in our text today will laugh again. The word of God is clear that there is hope in thine end. God remembered Mephibosheth and brought him out of Lodebar to the king’s palace among the king’s Sons, never to go to Lodebar anymore.
Perhaps you went into “Lodebar” because of your self-will and disobedience like the prodigal son. The Lord is waiting to receive you and make you to feast with the king’s sons. Repent of all your sins today, ask for God’s mercy and pardon. Just as the call came to Mephibosheth to leave Lodebar, it is your turn today – Arise from all losses, lack and limitation and take your place among the kingdom sons and daughters.
