Message
“We cannot fail to see in the study of the Book of Job that there is always a divine purpose in the believer’s suffering. God never allows us to suffer needlessly.” This is part of Theodore H. Epp’s introduction to his book, Job, A Man Tried As Gold. Job was a real person that lived on earth, not a fictional character. He was described as perfect and upright. He had a good relationship with God and other human beings. He had a reverential fear of God and hatred for evil.
Yet, despite his pedigree, Job passed through some terrible afflictions. He suffered the loss of all things he held dear – his possessions, children, health and the goodwill of his friends and loved ones. In fact, while at the lowest point of his life, it appeared as if God was silent. But Job remained resolute in his conviction about God’s goodness. He believed he was clean and his trials were for good. And that is true, child of God. After you are tried, you will come forth as gold.
