“Our Mansion Secured”

Key Verse

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:1,2).

TEXT — John 14:1-4

Message

The story was once told about a poor woman who was dying in her house. When the doctor visited, he found her very bright and cheerful. “How can you be so happy?” he asked. “That’s easy,” she replied. “I just keep thinking about the move into my heavenly mansion.” She was so optimistic and confident that there is a mansion secured for her in heaven.

As Jesus Christ neared the end of His earthly ministry, His disciples were sorrowful because He predicted His betrayal, denial and death. The thought of Jesus going away troubled them. But to allay their fears, He reassured them that the separation would only be for a season and a reason. He would go and prepare a place for His disciples and return to take them to be with Him forever. “Let not your heart be troubled… In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you”.

Believers in Christ have a living hope beyond this world; there is a place of rest, comfort and joy prepared for them by the Lord. Though we may not have all the details about heaven, Jesus assures us of many mansions there. That means there will be room enough for everyone who loves the Lord. However, the greatest consolation about our heavenly mansions is that Jesus Christ will be there. Nothing could be more soothing and reassuring than to be where Jesus is forever! He said, “I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.”

To be a partaker of the heavenly mansions, you need to love and enjoy the presence of Jesus while you are still living. You must repent, give your heart to Him and remain faithful to God.

Thought for the day

“The promise of Jesus gives us the assurance that our mansions are secure in heaven.”
