Key Verse
“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day” (Isaiah 2:11).
TEXT — Isaiah 2:10-22
Message
David Breese, in his sermon, Living For Eternity, had this to say, “Had Adam and Eve retained their original state, they never would have died. But Eve and then Adam yielded to the serpent’s temptation, and death came into the world. Before that moment, they were in a beautiful, pristine state. They existed on a level far above the present condition of the human race. It is difficult to imagine what man was like then by viewing him as he is now. It would require something like trying to reconstruct the original version of an aircraft from its wreckage. If we knew nothing of flying, we would hardly suspect that it had once soared above the earth. The material would be the same; the capability of flight, however, would be lost.”
From our text, Isaiah the prophet lamented over the fall of man, to the extent that man now prefers the worship of the creature more than the Creator. God promises severe judgment for this gross violation of His word.
We can regain what became elusive at the beginning in the Garden of Eden through Jesus Christ our Lord, the seed of the woman. Man has a unique opportunity to turn his tragic fall into a true fellowship with the almighty God simply by accepting the sacrificial work of His only begotten Son at Calvary.
The mercy of God is unmistakable. Christ paid the price, and the way of life is open to all who are willing. Have you experienced that peace that passes all understanding given by Christ? Why not enter into that blissful experience today and recover the lost glory.
Thought for the day
Recover from the tragic fall by accepting His treasured grace.
