Danger Of Seeking Pleasure
Friday, December 26, 2025Key Verse
“He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.” Proverbs 21:17
Text —Proverbs 21:15-17
Message
Jerry’s parents own a sports yacht called “Purely pleasure”.The decoration and facilities on it are amazing. Jerry said in an interview at a boat show that he has dedicated his life to the pursuit of pleasure. His home is also named the ” valley of Pleasure”. On the other hand, a man who stood for God’s words in his time once said “both pleasure and pain are temptations, but the greater temptation is pleasure”.
Jesus was tempted in the wilderness to be the kind of Saviour that would only satisfy all our physical needs and earthly pleasures. He rejected it, because He would not be a Saviour who just provided food for the hungry, or power for the powerless. He was tempted to take the easy way and to use His heavenly influence in order to avoid dying on the cross for our sins but He refused.
Seekers of worldly pleasures are enemies of God. They can become friends of God if they reject all worldly attraction, turn to the Saviour in repentance and obey His word. Do you desire an everlasting peace? Would you like the joy that abides at all times? Then you must begin to find pleasure in seeking God. Run away from all the pleasures of the world that will take you nowhere.
