“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment” (Hebrews 11:23).
TEXT —Hebrews 11:23
Message
Mark Walter writes about the late Earl J. Fleming, an Alaska state biologist. “He was, perhaps, the only man to investigate objectively the bear’s reputation for attacking humans. When Fleming encountered a bear, he neither ran nor shot. At the end of his unique study, he had encountered 81 brown bears, and although several staged mock charges, not one attack.”
Amram and Jochebed, Moses’s parents, exemplify courageous faith in adversity. Both parents were of Levi’s lineage. The faith of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham, the paternal patriarchs of their family, ran in their veins. They defied the edit of King Pharaoh to cast every Jewish-born son into the river. Instead of casting Moses into the river, they hid him for three months. They saw in Moses by faith a peculiarly proper child. It was not just the physical goodliness of the boy that spurred their faith. Their intuitive spiritual revelation was that the young lad would grow up to be a deliverer. Their courageous faith paid off when Pharaoh’s daughter picked Moses from the river’s brink when the young child was in an ark of bulrushes. He became the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Jochebed, Moses’s mother, was hired to nurse him.
Wherever God sees any of His children exercising courageous faith amid intimidating powers of oppression, He always intervenes to honour their trust.
The same God who delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from Nebuchadnezzar’s fiery furnace will deliver you, too. The lions’ mouths were shut when Daniel was thrown into their den. Those who rest their confidence absolutely in God’s promises will always receive compensation for the courageous faith they manifest in their most critical hours of trials and temptations.
Thought for the day
The bears of adversity may charge against you, but God will ensure your safety.

I am particularly blessed as I find mostly every topic, passage of the Bible timely and pungent. Today’s July 25, 2025 is particularly enriching.
Glory be to the Lord and more grace, Pastor.
