Message
In most schools, you have to sit for a qualifying examination before you are offered admission. Most entrance examinations do not test academic knowledge only but good behaviour to determine whether a child is qualified for admission or not. A young girl named Abigail just concluded her primary school education and it had been her desire to get admission into a Federal Government College in her locality. Abigail went through many months of studying and coaching before going through the three stages of examination. One night, a message from the school dropped in her dad’s mobile phone with the following words “Congratulations, you have been offered admission!”. The whole family woke up to celebrate.
In like manner, admission to the Kingdom of God will be based on individual persons’ relationship with God in this world. Heaven is meant for the redeemed of the Lord, those who have repented of their sins, have surrendered their lives to Jesus and are living to do God’s will and to please Him. Such people are referred to as the sheep in our Bible passage. The unrepentant sinners are referred to as goats. There is no space for the ‘goats’ in God’s kingdom. When you live a holy life and eventually make it to heaven, you will be congratulated by the angels.
