A Dog Back To Its Vomit
Thursday, September 11, 2025Key Verse
“But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?” (Galatians 4:9)
Text — Galatians 4:8-11
Message
In today’s text, Apostle Paul in pointing out the backsliding situation of the Galatians church reminded them of their old lifestyle of idol worshipping before they knew the Lord. The saving knowledge of the gospel brought them to the grace of God, but after a while the wind of backsliding hit the church. Paul lamented their going back to their former idolatrous practices like a dog that goes back to its vomit occasioned by the spread of falsehood and deception.
Just as Paul the Apostle was displeased with the Galatian church, God is not pleased with backsliders, people who were once saved but have gone back to their old sinful practices, whether secretly or openly. Backslidden youths will not enjoy true fellowship with other believers as they will be cut off from the blessings of God and if they do not repent, eternal perdition will be their end. If you have gone back to sin due to one reason or another, you should return to the Lord in full repentance without further delay.
Quote
Return to the Lord in repentance
