Blessedness Part 4: Blessed Are They Which Do Hunger And Thirst
Friday, March 6, 2026Key Verse
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
Text — Matthew 5: 2-6
Message
Hunger and thirst are considered the two strongest desires of living things. The basic effort of every government and family is to make sure their citizens or children are free from hunger and thirst. No child likes to be hungry. Hungry people are looked at with pity and disdain. Some people even say: “It is better to go naked than to go hungry.” But it is sad that people struggle so much to feed their body with food, and do everything to quench their thirst, but leave their soul starved of righteousness. Those who are spiritually poor, mournful and meek must be desperate to act like God and live like Him. The happiness in being hungry and thirsty after righteousness lies in the fact that God will satisfy such sincere desire. All our efforts and claim to be godly are of no value before God unless we are righteous in thoughts, words and actions.
God’s presence, His fear and daily drinking of the water of His word alone are necessary to keep you righteous and satisfy your spiritual thirst. Desire and pant after these and you will be filled.
