Key Verse
“If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him; If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles” (Job 11:13-14).
Text — Job 11:13-20
Message
Iniquity is another word for sin or wrong doing. The natural man is born with the propensity or predisposition to commit sin because of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Thus, the spiritual condition of humanity negates the holiness standard of God. However, the loving God, who created man in His own image has at all times made provisions for restoring humanity to fellowship or communion with Him. The saints of old in various dispensations before the dispensation of grace relied upon animal sacrifices to atone for their sins as demanded by God then. Fortunately, we don’t need animal sacrifice to come into relationship with God again as all we need now is repentance and faith in Christ’s atonement blood.
Those who are born again are expected to say goodbye to sin like Job, one of the patriarchs of the Christian faith, whose commitment to holiness and righteousness would continue to challenge people of all ages. His advice to Christians still echoes: “If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.”
