Backslider, Stage A Comeback
Tuesday, September 9, 2025Key Verse
“My little children, these things write I unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).
Text — 1 John 2:1-3
Message
The prodigal son was out there with no blanket for cold. All he had was the company of swine and their husk. He was sad, starved, and sorrowful in the service of an inconsiderate stranger. Indeed the grass wasn’t greener where he was, as he thought when he ran away from his home in search of independence. Suddenly, he came to himself. He realized he should not languish in penury anymore while prosperity was in abundance somewhere—not just anywhere, but his father’s home. ‘I will arise and go to my father’, He cried out and decided to stage a comeback to his dear father.
When he was yet a great way off, his father saw him; had compassion on him; ran; fell on his neck and kissed him. The lost son didn’t just stand before his father mute. He voiced: ‘Father I have sinned…’ The rest is history. Dear friend, have you gone away from the Lord like the prodigal son and now wallow in sin and regrets? Stage a comeback as your heavenly Father is waiting to receive you.
