Key Verse
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).
Text — Acts 17:10-12
Message
The Berean Christians were known for their passion for God’s Word which brought them some commendation. It was Thomas Jefferson who declared that, “I have always said, and always will say, that the studious perusal of the sacred volume will make better citizens, better fathers, and better husbands.” The Berean Jews were most famous for receiving the gospel with eagerness and the way they diligently cross-examined Paul’s message about Jesus with the Scriptures.
As Christian youths, citizens of heaven, we are expected to be like the Berean Christians. They ensured they cross-checked the word of God, daily. We should daily search the Scriptures and compare scriptures with scriptures so that we will not be tossed to and fro by false prophets (Ephesians 4:14).Youths are to search the Scriptures after every church programme, Bible Study and any youth programme they attend and search the Bible to confirm whether those things they heard from the preachers are so. We are expected to always receive the word with readiness of mind and be doers of it and not hearers only.
