Key Verse
“And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.” Luke 22:61
Text — Luke 22:54-62
Message
In March 2013, Takashi Yoshimura and Tsuyoshi Shimmura found out that the rooster actually has internal rhythm clock of 23.8 hours and starts to crow at a fixed time. This helps to explain why cocks start to crow slightly before sunrise. In the olden days, there were no clock all over the world. The cock-crow therefore reminded people the time of the day.
In our Bible passage, Peter has failed to watch and pray as instructed by the Lord. The cock-crow reminded him of his failure, caused him to regret and cry for denying Jesus. The cock-crow indicates a specific time in everyone’s life. Those who refuse to obey the call of Jesus to turn away from sin will regret and cry bitterly when the time is no more.
Do what you ought to do, particularly concerning your soul now before it is too late. Today is the day of salvation for you. Turn away from all wrong doings and make Jesus your Friend. If you have done so, be watchful and prayerful so that you can overcome every temptation.
