Key Verse
“Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea” (Exodus 15:1).
Text — Exodus 15:1-11
Message
The children of Israel were threatened by instant annihilation after they left Egypt. They came to a crossroads as they were besieged by the impassable Red Sea and the advancing Egyptian army behind them. Then they cried unto Moses and also to their God who delivered them by parting the Red Sea to grant them safe passage. The enemies were drowned in the sea. Israel sang praises after their deliverance. If you pray when you have a need or a challenge, you must sing when you have a breakthrough or success, just like entering a new year!
Singing is a way of expressing our gratitude to God for the favours we receive from Him. Jesus healed ten lepers and only one returned to appreciate Him for his healing. Jesus was surprised at those who left and was pleased with the one who returned. So, when next you receive a favour or blessing from the Lord, such as passing an exam, securing admission to higher school, acquiring a skill, or accomplishing a feat – remember to sing unto the Lord. Praise God, it is a new year!
