Key Verse
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11).
Text — I Peter 2:9-12
Message
After being saved, some young people fall into the trap of lust or inordinate affection. Rather than pray and seek help from Christian leaders, they secretly try to fight it all by themselves. Unfortunately, some don’t survive the onslaught of the devil in such a secret fight. “We need to look into the future and examine what could happen if we permit lust to live in our hearts. It is deadly, destructive and powerful,” says Merlin Carothers.
This lust war engages every human being. Sinners are already defeated in it, but the Christian youths who have their minds renewed can win daily. Only a renewed heart can resist lustful passions generated by sources like: pornography, worldly music and movies, close relationship with the opposite sex, and meditation on immoral things. God expects you as a peculiar person to abstain from all fleshly lusts, and live a spotless life at school and everywhere. To fight and win the war over lust, you must avoid anything and persons that are seductive. Maintain a good prayer life, and seek counsels from mature Christian leaders.
