The Willful Sinner’s Woes
Sunday, June 18, 2023Key Verse
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26).
Text — Hebrews 10:23-29
Message
Sin can be classified into two broad categories: sins of carelessness and sins of presumption. The first is that in which Satan blinds the sinners’ mind and deceives them to do evil. A presumptuous sin is that in which the sinner willfully disobeys God in defiance of the Holy Spirit’s express warning.
That was the sin of Cain who proceeded to the bigger sin of murdering his brother even after God had rebuked him for anger. It was the sin of Korah and his mates who flatly refused Moses’ extended hand of fellowship in their rebellion. Judas willfully refused Christ’s warning but decided to see his betrayal plan through to its end. All those rebels came under severe divine judgment.
There are youths today who do whatever they will without thinking of what God thinks. Invariably, self-will is choosing to ignore God’s will. Are you one of such? Hardening your heart against God is like bashing your head against an iron pillar; the result is pain and misery. The remedy is to repent and return to Christ in humility before it is too late.
